Brief History
Construction of the United Methodist Retirement Center was funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in conjunction with the former New England Southern Conference of the United Methodist Church. The project was the first HUD Section 202 project constructed in Rhode Island for elderly housing. The Retirement Center opened to residents on April 1, 1971 for senior independent living.
