Since 1969 when United Methodist Elder Care was formed by a group of forward-thinking and caring entrepreneurs and Methodists, the organization has been adding services as the demand arises in Rhode Island. What started out as a response to the call for affordable senior housing, transformed into the existence of multiple facilities and the comprehensive continuum of care which United Methodist Elder Care offers today.
Keeping with the innovative tradition of its forefathers, the board of directors continues to consider the needs of the community and remains open to expanding United Methodist Elder Care’s roster of services. The formation of ElderCare Consultants, LLC in 2012 was an outgrowth of identifying the need for elder care management services for public housing facilities. Helping people of modest means and providing comfort to the sick and elderly are core values of the United Methodist Conference and reflected in the work of the for-profit arm of the organization as well. Another “additional service” is our physical, occupational and speech therapy which is available at Linn Health Care Center. At present, these services are available strictly on an inpatient basis. This service deserves a special section of its own on the website not only due to the intricacy of its nature, but also because of its provision of cutting edge services, especially in the area of Parkinson’s Disease rehabilitation.
